Nancy Simmons always knew that she wanted her own business. After starting a business consulting
firm in northwest Pennsylvania, she ventured south looking for a new business where she could practice
what she preached about entrepreneurship and women owned businesses.
She wanted to teach her daughter, Kelly Rex, how to operate her own e-commerce business. Luckily,
they stumbled onto Cardworksonline, a very professional online business greeting card company that Jean
Pederson and Barbara Lundberg had started fifteen months earlier. Kelly is an artist and photographer,
as well as in management with a national company and has learned the power of networking and how to
use that tool effectively. Her artistic and critical eye for beauty and interest allows her to choose

Nancy, after helping others operate their businesses, was eager to develop her own strategies
to emphasize excellence and quality in every aspect of their business. Cardworks fits into her

Looking ahead, they envision Cardworks growing and reaching the corporate world as well as
servicing their loyal membership. They specifically want to use the power of the Internet to
level the playing field for small businesses and to be a one-stop-shop for businesses to
enhance their relationships with both customers and employees. "Growth will demand that we
expand our products - staying true to our belief in communication as a business development tool".
